In a site-specific study Seo is right We analyzed several sites in search engines to find out the reasons for their superiority over their competitors, and we discovered that there is a factor that sometimes outweighs the influence of backlinks and helps these sites rise in search engines and outperform competitors in a short time.

We called this factor: Topical Ratio

When you create a website that talks about tourism and travel and write dozens of articles and then suddenly decide to target a new keyword related to car rental and write a long article about car rental and even build some backlinks trying to get to the first page of Google...

Then you find that there is a site on the first page that occupies the number 1 result for this word, but it does not have any Linux backbone and only includes several pages that do not reach half of what you have within your site.

You will immediately feel that something is illogical! Why did this site get the first result while I provide more and more content in terms of the number of words and backlinks pointing to it?

The answer to this question is the subject of this article, which is: Topical Ratio

File 5373602

This factor, in short, is the percentage and positions of mention of the keyword you target on your site compared to the total number of pages on your site.

Let us assume together that you have a website with 1000 pages that talk about cooking, then you suddenly decide to write an article about weight loss, but there is no page or title on your website that talks about weight loss at all...

The percentage of the topic within your site, or the Topical Ratio, will be 1 out of 1000 percent.

This means that your site’s level of experience and knowledge of the topic “weight loss” is Present in several = 0.1% This is why it is impossible for this word to top the results even if you build hundreds of backlinks for it!

This is because Google prefers small, specialized sites that provide valuable content over large sites that talk about dozens of different fields that have nothing to do with each other.

But first, let us learn how to calculate the Topical Ratio for any website:

Go to the Google search engine and search for the following statistics, replacing the word domain.com with the link to the site that ranks first in the keyword you are targeting.

1. Find the number of website pages using: site:domain.com

File 9707616

2. Look for the number of times the keyword is mentioned in the site titles: site:domain.com intitle:keyword

File 1843244

3. Look for the number of times the keyword is mentioned within the site content: site:domain.com intext:keyword

File 9015846

4. Look for the number of times the keyword is mentioned within the site links: site:domain.com inurl:keyword

File 5900133

Then we add the last three factors, multiply them by 100, then divide them by the number of site pages to get the Topical Ratio for each site, which we will explain through the following examples:

*All results were searched using Google.com, the English version.”

• Example No. 1: Water diet

File 9359578

We find that the second result for the Mawdoo3 site is better in terms of most technical SEO factors, such as: -

  1. The Domain Authority
  2. The Page Authority
  3. The Citation Flow

But when we search for the Topical Ratio for the first site, we find the following:

Number of pages of the site with the first result: 33700 pages

Number of times the keyword is mentioned in website titles: 99 times

Number of times the keyword is mentioned in the site content: 980 times

Number of times the keyword is mentioned in website links: 79 times

Then we do a simple calculation: (99 + 980 + 79)*100 / 33700 = Present in several = 3.43%
This is the Topical Ratio of the site that ranks first in the result.

When we search for the Topical Ratio for the second site, we find the following:

Number of pages of the website with the second result: 168000 pages

Number of times the keyword is mentioned in website titles: 531 times

Number of times the keyword is mentioned in the site content: 4770 times

Number of times the keyword is mentioned in website links: 0 times

We do a simple calculation: (531 + 4770 + 0)*100 / 168000 = Present in several = 3.15%
This is the Topical Ratio for the site that ranks second

• Example No. 2: Word: Work From Home

File 5387805

Also, here we find that result No. 2 for Indeed.com is superior in the number of backlinks and page authority, as is clear to you, but when we search for the Topical Ratio, we find the following:

Result No. 1:-

Number of pages of the site with the first result: 41000000 pages

Number of times the keyword is mentioned in website titles: 191000 times

Number of times the keyword is mentioned in the site content: 32000000 times

Number of times the keyword is mentioned in website links: 111000 times

The Topical Ratio is: 78.3%

Result No. 2:-

Number of pages of the website with the second result: 35000000 pages

Number of times the keyword is mentioned in website titles: 131000 times

Number of times the keyword is mentioned in the site content: 15500000 times

Number of times the keyword is mentioned in website links: 70200 times

The Topical Ratio is: 44.8%

As is clear in this example, the site in the second result excels in backlinks, but it does not excel in the factor that outweighs all Glassdoor.com over the rest of the sites on the first page.

But in order to be more certain, we did not limit ourselves to these examples and researched more...

• Example No. 3: Word: Home Decor

File 6673811

Also, for the third time, as it is clear to you, score No. 2 excels in all criteria related to Backlinks and Authority, but it still cannot outperform score No. 1, and this is due to the Topical Ratio:

Result No. 1:-

Number of pages of the site with the first result: 69100 pages

Number of times the keyword is mentioned in website titles: 66000 times

Number of times the keyword is mentioned in the site content: 68800 times

Number of times the keyword is mentioned in website links: 46 times

The Topical Ratio is: 195%

Result No. 2:-

Number of pages of the website with the second result: 72500 pages

Number of times the keyword is mentioned in website titles: 705 times

Number of times the keyword is mentioned in the site content: 63800 times

Number of times the keyword is mentioned in website links: 1260 times

The Topical Ratio is: 90%

Do you still need more results to confirm the importance of this factor and its impact on the ranking? There is no problem, as we also did not limit ourselves to these examples and searched for dozens of keywords...

• Example No. 4: Tourism in Türkiye

File 8184012

In this example, we examined the first three results in order:

Result No. 1: The Topical Ratio is: Present in several = 16.4%

Result No. 2: The Topical Ratio is: Present in several = 1.05%

Result No. 3: The Topical Ratio is: 1%

So for any result to be ranked first, it must be...
The average Topical Ratio for your site is 6.15%.
It is the result of adding the Topical Ratio of the first three results and dividing them by 3

As you can see, this matter seems to be really effective in various fields and in various languages, and it seems that its influence exceeds Back Linux, and it can make the difference between sites and each other, but it must be noted that...

After examining more than 150 words in various fields, we arrived at the following:

  • Topical Ratio factor It becomes very influential when it comes to ranking the top three results
  • Topical Ratio factor It is highly active in keywords related to informational content
  • Topical Ratio factor Its impact decreases when you target keywords related to e-commerce
  • Topical Ratio factor It is not the only factor controlling the ranking of your site's results, but it is very influential

But in order to clarify the importance of the Topical Ratio, we wanted to put an order of the factors influencing and controlling the results of your site, so we conducted a complex mathematical equation and subjected it to testing on more than 25 sites.

We found that if each site has 100 points, the more points it achieves, the higher the ranking, the factors affecting your site’s ranking will be as follows:

  1. Topical Ratio: 20 points
  2. Backlinks: 15 points
  3. Trust Flow: 11 points
  4. Domain Authority: 8 points
  5. Meta Tags: 6 points
  6. Social Signals: 6 points
  7. Loading Speed: 5 points
  8. Content Freshness: 5 points
  9. Number of Words Per Page: 5 points
  10. Bounce Rate: 4 points
  11. Page Views: 4 points
  12. Direct Visits: 3 points
  13. Internal Linking: 3 points
  14. Synonyms: 3 points
  15. Keyword Density: 1 point
  16. Domain Age: 1 point

Of course, this distribution of points is only our own vision SEO It is correct for the most important factors and the extent of their impact on the ranking of results in search engines. It is not considered an official reference for website ranking factors in search engines.

You must pay attention to all these factors so that you can compete in difficult fields, with a focus on the Topical Ratio factor due to its effective role in favoring the results over each other.
